Emily Holter

The cutest, sweetest cupcake shop in town obviously has to have the cutest, sweetest manager. Introducing Emily, the buttercream princess of Sweethaus, and a local-lovin’ gal who knows a thing or two about Cville outside of candy land.

Describe what you do in town.

General Manager for Sweethaus Charlottesville. This entails a wide variety of responsibility; from frosting our cupcake window to helping coordinate children’s parties to delivering wedding cakes, there’s a lot that goes on. We stay busy! What keeps me coming back for more is the energy that surrounds this business and how genuinely happy our treats make our customers. It’s infectious!

Top Picks

A favorite dish in town.

I was recently at Zocalo for a friend’s birthday dinner and the salmon blew me away. The texture of the creamy Israeli couscous and the cool sweetness of the smoked pico pairs so well with a cooked-to-perfection salmon filet. A true delight!

A favorite weekly or monthly drink special.

Being in the wedding/cupcake/event business, weekends are huge for us, so Mondays are usually my “wind-down time.” Weekly half price wine night every Monday at The Local is great. Michelle the bar manager (soon to be general manager of the New Belmont Eatery) does a superior job of bringing in some really special bottles at great price points, tack on the 50% discount and you’ve got yourself a steal!

A favorite local fitness class or fitness event.

Hot Yoga Charlottesville (formerly Bikram Yoga). Lizzie has so much passion for this practice and it’s evident all throughout the studio. Every instructor is wonderful in their own special way; they all bring something different to the hot room that leaves you feeling “yoga drunk” after final savasana. Love love love this studio!
