Charlottesville is a city filled with local-loving people, and a spirit of community and collaboration unlike anywhere else. Every week, Cville Niche will celebrate that spirit by featuring a local’s top picks.

This super cake-maker is also a super mom. Known in Cville and beyond for her sweet cake skills, this sugar momma is a joyful lover of local eats. (All puns intended.)

Describe what you do in town.

The beginning part of my week is spent organizing my family after our usual hectic weekends and the latter part of the week I am the face of Maliha Creations, a small boutique bakery in town… I am either baking cakes, frosting cakes, or decorating cakes!

Describe yourself in 5 syllables or less.

Always overbooked 😉

A favorite dish in town.

I live to eat so it is hard to pick a favorite in this delicious little town. I could go to Tavola and just order the mussels and call it a night… the smell is so intoxicating as soon as you enter. But if I still have room in my belly, I could go to Mas and have the bacon wrapped dates for dessert. When I am with my family, we usually hit up Citizen Burger Bar… a house salad with a Timbercreek patty, add some avocados, and I am full for hours.

A favorite drink in town.

By Friday night, we are pretty spent, so our family heads over to Mono Loco. As soon as I hit the patio, I order a Spicy Margarita, the combination of tart, spicy and sweet is the perfect start to the weekend. When it’s just my hubby and I, we head over to The Alley Light and can blindly choose any of their handcrafted cocktails… each one is a winner.

A favorite local fitness class or fitness event.

My favorite place to sweat is MADabolic. I am in and out in under an hour, the movements change daily, the coaches are knowledgeable and truly care, and above all the people rock. This is the only gym I have been to where the patrons become lifelong friends.
