This Cville gal shines in all she does. She’s launching her art business this week, so keep an eye out for this one. You won’t want to miss out on her gallery show this Friday, October 3rd, at the Old Metropolitan Hall.
Describe what you do in town.
This week, I’m launching my art business, Tomboy Creative, with a gallery show at Old Metripolitan Hall! I paint, illustrate, do calligraphy, I just really love to have my hand in a little bit of anything creative – a “Jill of all trades” as my mom has always called me. I also work at the beloved rock paper scissors, a paper and custom invitation store downtown.
Describe yourself in 5 syllables or less.
a life long learner
A favorite dish in town.
The Garlic Garden Club at Revolutionary Soup. Oh my goodness, I could eat it everyday. It has the perfect amount of veggies to cheese to garlie aoili combo…and then on that sunflower seed bread?!!
A favorite drink in town.
As long as I’m at C&O I’m good. The ambiance and people will make anything taste just perfect.
A favorite weekly or monthly food special.
When Flora Cheese is at Champion. They have this amazing spread of cheeses and then the best people selling them to you. Sitting at the picnic tables with all of those things AND some friends… too good to be true.
A favorite weekly or monthly drink special.
Whatever is on tap at Fardowners in Crozet. I don’t really know the specials, but it is a great place to grab a beer.
A favorite local musician.
My favorite musician is pretty new, but incredible. Her name is Lauren Stonestreet and there is one song of hers I just can’t get enough of. The last place I heard her play was out at friend’s farm, so I guess River Birch Farm would be the venue? 🙂
A favorite local artist.
Isabelle Abbot. She is a landscape painter and her paintings are timeless. Who she is definitely pours into the beauty of her paintings and is a true inspiration to me.
A favorite local gallery/venue to see art.
The Garage. It’s at 100 Jefferson St and is always filled with life. I recently saw my friend Phil’s photography there. My favorite thing is to watch musicians play and watch from the hill, right across the way. Sam Bush does a great job organizing everything that goes on there.
A favorite local music venue.
I love The Southern. There have been some amazing memories and my favorite artists and friends have played there. It’s intimate and so fun.
A favorite local shopping destination.
Market Street WineShop. I think the name tells it all. literally.
