Charlottesville is a city filled with local-loving people, and a spirit of community and collaboration unlike anywhere else. Every week, Cville Niche will celebrate that spirit by featuring a local’s top picks.

Jennifer Hoyt Tidwell

jtidwellThis lady may be singlehandedly responsible for keeping the performance art scene alive in Cville. From past stints with CLAW as Cville Knievel to her current touring project, Tidwell can often be found standing out in a crowd, always read for a show that you won’t want to miss.

Describe what you do in town.

I act, write things, swing a hammer with Freightrain Construction, and tour a performance art piece called While You Wait around Charlottesville each week.

Describe yourself in 5 syllables or less.

Bull AND China Shop

A favorite drink in town.

Fresh mint milkshake at the Twisted Branch Tea Bazaar

A favorite local musician.

Jim Waive on Wednesdays at the Blue Moon Diner. I’ve been seeing him almost every week for 8 years, ever since he started at Atomic Burrito.

A favorite local artist.

Sian Richards. She is a performer with Performers Exchange Project (full disclosure: this is also *my* theatre company). I last enjoyed her in Our American Ann Sisters.
