Charlottesville is a city filled with local-loving people, and a spirit of community and collaboration unlike anywhere else. Every week, Cville Niche will celebrate that spirit by featuring a local’s top picks.

This local gal LOVES Cville – a lot. And her social media alias The Hometown Tourist certainly proves her passion for this area.

Describe what you do in town.

I work for a great local company called Stay Charlottesville and for fun, I run around Charlottesville snapping photos for a Facebook photography page that I started a few years ago called The Hometown Tourist – Charlottesville, VA.

I love what I do for a living and for fun because both allow me to grow (and share) my love for my hometown a little bit more every day and neither of them feel like work. To me, that’s a sure sign that you’ve got a good thing going for yourself!

A favorite dish in town.

Monsoon’s Drunken Noodles with seafood is AMAZING! It’s one of those dishes that’s just bursting with all kinds of spicy, delicious flavor and it never disappoints. I really love the casual, comfy atmosphere at Monsoon as well.

A favorite local musician.

Such a hard question! Anyone that knows me, knows that Dave Matthews would be my all-time favorite local musician… but there’s also Charles Owens (fantastic jazz musician), Erin & the Wildfire, Alive in the Superunknown, John D’earth and so, so many others! You can never have too many local favorites though, right?!

A favorite local shopping destination.

Richmond Camera on E. High Street. The staff is knowledgeable, their prices are reasonable and their print work is great. I really enjoy working with them.
