Describe what you do in town.

I am a hairstylist and makeup artist at Studio 500. I love working with my clients behind the chair and out and about in Charlottesville. I have the pleasure of going to many local venues for on-site hair and makeup services. One of my favorite places to go and do hairmakeup is at Pippin Hill. Their venue is ideal for the brides and for the hair and makeup personnel. It’s wonderful too because after I am finished I can have a seat on their beautiful porch area and soak up the beautiful views and a glass of wine.

Top 3 Local Picks

A favorite dish in town, what it’s called, where it’s at, describe what makes it special/different/one of your favorites.

My new favorite is La Taza’s blackened fish taco. It is super light and filling for those hot summer nights.

Also, at La Taza’s Tiki Bar, I love love love their Mojito’s – not too sweet, not too sour, just perfect for sitting outside and listening to local music on their patio.

A favorite local musician, name of the musician, type of music, your favorite local show that featured them.

Ashley McMillen is my favorite local musician – she’s a little bit of country, little bit of sass. She is everywhere! She performs at local wineries, smaller venues like Positively 4th and Whiskey Jar, but recently she opened for Sara Evans at The Paramount, which was amazing!! I’m looking forward to her next big performance at the Pavilion when she opens for Gary Allan.

A favorite local music venue, name of venue, where’s it located, what makes it special, most recent show you enjoyed there.

I love The Jefferson! I try and go at least once a month. Every show there is great and I am never disappointed. I enjoy the variety of shows. In the last month I enjoyed Aquanett (80’s big hair rock cover band) and the week before we saw Ryan Bingham – one of my favorites.
