Another restaurant will soon be added to the bulging Charlottesville food scene, but this one comes with a unique twist.

Sedona Taphouse Charlottesville will bring more than 500 beers and a wide selection of food to the area when its doors open at the tail end of the month.

Scott Hutson, co-owner of Sedona’s Charlottesville location, said the restaurant will cater to men and women, young and old with a variety of tastes.

“The menu runs the gamut,” Hutson said. “There’s nothing like this in Charlottesville.”

Hutson, who moved to the area eight years ago to open Bonefish Grill at Hollymead Town Center, said Sedona will be “an upscale taphouse” with 50 draft beers and more than 450 unique bottles and cans. It will also offer a variety of fish, fish tacos, filets and flatbread pizzas.

“It’s not a beerhouse,” he said, noting he’s looking to reach a demographic similar to what he had at Bonefish Grill. “It’s not just about craft beer. The food is serious food.”

Dennis Barbaro, co-owner of the Charlottesville restaurant and founder of the company, opened the first Sedona Taphouse in Midlothian. The local  restaurant at 1035 Millmont Street will be the second location.

“Will there be more? Hopefully,” Hutson said.

Sedona Taphouse Charlottesville is located in Millmont Shops behind the Barracks Road Shopping Center. It occupies the space that once housed Sloans and Millmont Grille. Hutson said renovations for the restaurant began on April 1 and he is well into the hiring process.

Hutson added that he is very aware of Charlottesville’s love of locally-owned restaurants that offer local fare. “It is a local place,” Hutson said. “Of the 50 taps, the locals will be well, well represented.” Hutson is also trying to negotiate farm to table menu items.

When its doors open, Sedona Taphouse Charlottesville will be able to serve more than 160 patrons at a time between its restaurant space, bar and outdoor patio, which features a fire pit. The restaurant will also offer live, acoustic music.

Stay tuned for the Grand Opening, Cville!
