With the release of their brand new record Sirens just over the horizon, Charlottesville’s own Sons of Bill kicked off their Virginia Calling Tour last night at Mockingbird Roots Music Hall in Staunton, VA.  The tour will take them to six Virginia towns in six nights to celebrate the new record and to thank all those that contributed with their help and support.  Tomorrow night, they’ll take the stage at the Paramount Theater in Downtown Charlottesville for their hometown CD release event.Sons of Bill

Recorded primarily at Sound of Music Studios in Richmond, VA, Sirens is set for official release on March 26th.  Though this will be the band’s third studio release, the group is describing the record as a “musical arrival point,” and early critics seem to agree.  Says CountryChart.com:

“Sirens … announces the Sons Of Bill to a new audience with a bold and inescapably interesting musical perspective. While the musicality and lyrical intentions present on the previous albums … are different, a clear musical progression is readily evident. Yes, Sirens is different, but it is a masterful musical work.”

Doors for the Paramount show are set to open at 7:30 pm, and as with all other stops on the Virginia Calling Tour, admission is FREE!  The show will be followed by a FREE after party at the Jefferson Theater, hosted by Luke Wilson, Carl Anderson, and friends.

Pre-ordered copies of Sirens are available on the band’s website, and all early purchasers will receive a copy signed by the band before its official release.  The album is available as an mp3 download, on vinyl, or on CD.  For a preview, check out the official video for “Santa Anna Winds” below:
