This year, the Virginia Festival of the Book, the largest gathering of authors, writers, and readers in the Mid-Atlantic region, is joining the celebration of Charlottesville’s 250th anniversary!

On March 23, celebrate Cville through learning about it – let Eryn S. Brennan, Margaret Maliszewski, Margaret O’Bryant and Dr. Morton C. Wilhelm fill you in on “What You Didn’t Know About Charlottesville,” a free Virginia Festival of the Book event!

Brennan and Maliszewski, both UVA alumni, will discuss their book Charlottesville.  O’Bryant will present Jean L. Cooper’s  A Guide to Historic Charlottesville & Albemarle Country, Virginia.  Dr. Wilhelm, the first recipient of the Joseph Farrow Professorship in Surgical Oncology, will discuss a book he coauthored with Henry K. Sharp, A History of Cancer Care at the University of Virginia 1901-2011.  The moderator for the discussion will be Nancy O’Brien, the first woman mayor of Charlottesville and the first Director of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission.

Join these professionals as they share stories and paint a picture of  Charlottesville’s varied history!
