Abolish Cancer Week in Charlottesville

C'ville Merchants support @Abolish Cancer (Feb. 6-12)

All this week (Feb. 6th – 12th) local C’ville merchants have teamed up with the group @AbolishCancer, and have been helping to donate money toward several charities focused on curing cancer. Established in November 2009, @AbolishCancer was created with the premise of uniting a community worldwide to not only help raise funds in the fight against cancer, but to also raise awareness. Several local businesses in Charlottesville, including Mudhouse, Baja Bean, Hamilton’s, Maya, and Albemarle Baking Co., will be donating part of their proceeds this week towards various selected charities; however, who they donate to will be decided by the customers.

This is how it works. Go to one of the participating merchants, make a purchase as described in the list, and tell them which charity you would like the donation to go to (you can find the list of the merchants involved & charities here). Simple. Easy. However, if you’re unable to make it to one of these businesses by this Sunday, and would still like to donate to one of these charities, or learn more about them, I’ve listed them below with links to their websites.

Colon Cancer Alliance

Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation

The B+ (Be Positive) Foundation

Pancreatic Cancer Action Network
