Have you decided what to do for this Sunday?

Staying in at home by yourself? Hosting a party? Invited to another friend’s place? Or maybe you’re going out to a bar or restaurant to watch the game?

No matter which option you’re picking there are always plenty of details involved from that bean dip you always make to needing to make a beer run. I thought I would share some ideas with you whether your plan is to stay in or go out.

Staying In?

If you’re planning on staying in at your house, or going over to someone else’s, then you’ll probably need to pick up some food or beer. Although the grocery stores will be hectic, now is always a good time to take advantage of their specials. Also, many stores will have deals going on, including Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Kroger, & Whole Foods (yes, even Whole Foods). Take a look at their store savings; even, if you’re not a member with a store, they should still be free to join.

If you need to pick up some beer for yourself or others I can always recommend Beer Run, Wine Warehouse, Market Street Wine (which has 2 locations), or Whole Foods. However, if you’re trying to pick up a 24-pack of Natty Light (shudder), then don’t expect any help from me—remember, I’m only here to recommend good beer. If you’re able to make it to Beer Run, think about bringing a growler, or just buy one over there. You’ll be able to get ~64 fl oz (4 pints) of almost any beer they have on tap. Another good deal you can take advantage of is at Mellow Mushroom, who is selling 22oz carryout bottles of Fat Tire for only $3.

Going out?

If you’re planning on going out, then you have umpteen different bars & restaurants to choose from. There’s no way to know which ones will be the most packed without going out there, but If you’re on the corner, Boylen Heights, Trinity Pub, Wild Wing Café, and Mellow Mushroom are all worth looking at since they are close together. If you’re looking for special deals, then I’ll recommend Beer Run again, who is offering $1 off pints, $2 off wings, and an awesome idea of serving dueling chowders: Manhattan vs New England.

By the way, in case you’re wondering what I’m doing tomorrow, I’ll be driving up to the Timberwood Grill with some friends. The restaurant will be offering drink specials, prizes, food, and a really, really, REALLY AWESOME beer selection that afternoon & evening: Avery, Bell’s, Allagash, Founders, and Blue Mountain Brewery will all be on tap. The festivities start at 3pm there, which is when I plan on arriving.

So, no matter whether you’re going out or staying in, your options are plenty.
