Day Seven

Blue Mountain Brewery // Afton, VA

13) Long Winters Nap – Appearing only a few days after Christmas, Blue Mountain will be placing Long Winters Nap on their taps. Although some people may think of lagers as being light in color and alcohol, this German lager style is a triplebock, which is actually very dark in color and stronger in alcohol (10% in this case). If you’re not able to make it out to BMB in time for the LWN, you should at least keep your eyes open for LWN in January, when they will bring out a bourbon-barrel and cocoa-nib-aged version of the same beer.

14) Bourbonator – For some reason, BMB can’t stop making beers that involve bourbon barrels. But who am I to complain. Bourbonator is described as a bourbon-barrel-aged blend of their Doppelbock & Triplebock beers. Although this is not a new beer to BMB, it’s still a seasonal beer, which means that it may not last long. So, when it comes out in January, sample it while you can.

Special thanks to Taylor Smack (Blue Mountain Brewery) for his help and suggestions on the holiday beers.
