For entertainment, Charlottesville is pretty hip — but we don't have a comedy club. Well, our very own National Stand Up Comedy Series is changing that. They are bringing in comedians from all over the states that have been featured on Comedy Central, MTV, Laugh Out Loud Comedy Tour, BET — at cool venues like Live Arts and Play On Theatre in the IX building. The line-up of comedians represent as many ethnic groups as possible — women and men — and promote diversity and understanding. Oh, and did we mention these comedians are funny?

As a part of this Cville Saver deal, you get to choose from one of the three upcoming shows! Your voucher is only good for one, so choose wisely and once chosen, be sure to call 757.263.0068 or email asureshot1@gmail.com reserve your seats. Check out the poster for these shows.

The Shows:

Saturday, May 28, at 8:00 PM, Play On Theatre at the Ix building will host New York's-own Sheng Wang, a self-described Taiwanese Texan, whose refreshingly affable stage presence combined with a healthy penchant for absurdity and self-deprecation make his act universally accessible and hilarious. In addition to touring with the Comedians of Comedy and American Eagle's Campus Comedy Challenge, he has also appeared on Comedy Central's Live at Gotham and on the AZN Network. Play On Theatre is located in the Ix building (983 Second Street, South East). Plenty of free parking with wine, beer, and refreshments available. Check his act here and here, and check him out!

Saturday, June 18, Live Arts Theatre, 111 Water Street presents Jon Laster, an up-and-coming Brooklyn comedian who reminds many of a combination of Richard Pryor and Martin Lawrence. In other words, Jon pulls no punches! He has appeared on the Best Of Comic View and BET Allstars with an act that is full of hilarious real-life comedy everyone can relate to. It's a high-energy show that will have you in tears from laughing so hard. Check him here and here (warning — some strong language!).
