Feeling stressed after a long week? Looking for a way to just bury all your problems and beginsomething new? In that case, you better find your inner farmer and join the Charlottesville CropMob this Saturday, April 2nd at the Local Food Hub’s Educational Farm in Scottsville! Bringyour friends, a nice picnic lunch, and a readiness to plant 600 lbs of organic potatoes! That’sright, get ready to get your hands dirty and your thumb green!

The Local Food Hub is a non-profit service organization with the mission of strengthening andsecuring “the future of a healthy regional food supply by providing small farmers with concreteservices that support their economic vitality and promote stewardship of the land.” The LocalFood Hub purchases produce from nearby family farms, and it distributes the food to over onehundred locations in our region, including hospitals, schools, and markets. Moreover, 25% ofthe food grown on the organization’s educational farm is donated to food banks and hungerorganizations.

After planting the potatoes, as well as constructing high tunnels for early pepper plants, you’llhave the opportunity to tour the educational farm’s six acres of organic produce, includinglettuce mix, tomatoes, onions, blackberries, raspberries, peppers, potatoes, kale, and chard!
So come on over to the farm, have some fun, plant some potatoes, and help support thisorganization’s great cause!
