Dressing Up with Darling: Coffee Shop Chic

A year ago, the Dressing Up series was conceived as a collaboration with shop owner at Darling, Elizabeth Steel. Now, the Dressing Up series includes four regularly featured boutiques with many more collaborations in the wings! How perfect then that this weekend Darling is celebrating their own anniversary. Celebrate Darling’s 2nd Birthday with a sale and lots of goodies this Saturday, October 4th, from 10am to 6pm.

In the meantime, let’s talk fall colors and coffee shops, brown leather and cardigans. Fall is the most beautiful time to sit on the downtown mall with a close friend – also known as coffee.

For this Dressing Up with Darling, I was inspired by the colors in this Anthropologie Edme & Esyllte pleated skirt (and my nerdy glasses). This look is a whimsical take on school-girl-uniform style, and proves that pieces from the same color family (but not quite matchy-matchy) can absolutely work together. Golden hues usher in the autumnal spirit, thus the addition of one of Darling’s many infinity scarves. Add a classic leather bag and a cardigan, and you’re ready for those fall coffee dates. See you at Mudhouse!
