Music? Wine? Food? Fun? Yes, please!
Every Monday night The Local – a local restaurant and hotspot of Charlottesville, located on the culinary corner of Hinton Avenue & Monticello Road – serves up an evening certain to satisfy any music lover’s pallet. The Local, being true to it’s name, hosts a house band of local musicians, complete with lead guitarist Rusty Speidel, Bassist Michael Clem, and Drummer Brian Caputo. This house band accompanies local singer/songwriters as they play and sing their original songs for the crowd to enjoy.
In case you missed last night…
Songwriters every week take on the microphone, such as Michael Coleman, Carl Anderson, Erin Lunsford, Scott T., Susan Munson, Jason Burke, and Robert King, just to give you an idea. Different genres and different ages meet up every Monday evening creating this open and welcoming community of extremely talented artists and appreciators of the art.
The performers range from powerhouse vocals to soft and intimate, all of which add a dynamic to the evening and create a fantastic show.
Having lived in many cities and seen lots of music “scenes,” I can honestly say this town has one of the best I’ve ever been immersed in. It’s crazy to think that the mass amount of talent in this city gets condensed into one intimate room for an evening and puts on a free show. But it does and they do.
So come out to the heart of Belmont and discover this hidden gem of an evening with great music, some of the best food in town (the bacon wrapped meatloaf is to die for), and even 1/2 off bottles of wine! There is no reason to stay in for the night. The Songwriter’s Circle meets every Monday evening at 9pm, but get there early for a seat or if you want a spot on the list.
