If you still haven’t seen Well Adjusted, written by Charlottesville’s own Phil Horst, go to the matinee performance today at 2:30 p.m. in the Cellar (5256 Governor Barbour St., Barboursville, VA)!
This witty play is “about a group of friends telling increasingly absurd lies and getting into ridiculous predicaments in order to appear like they have it together.” The playwright himself stars as Ben, a guy who’s about to see his ex-girlfriend Abby (Julie Stavitiski) for the first time in over a year. Ben’s friend Mark (Robert Ryland) invites Abby to a party at Kate (Katy Walker) and Beth’s (Claire McGurk Chandler) apartment. The problem is that Kate and Beth are not aware they’re hosting a party, and Beth is in a not-so-stable emotional state. Still, no matter the cost, Ben is bent on convincing Abby that he and his friends are mature, stable and well-adjusted.
“Well Adjusted” is a play to which “anyone who has ever dated and been lied to can relate.” If you can’t go today, don’t miss it Feb. 17 and 18 at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $10 – buy them on the spot or reserve them in advance.
