We all know the saying “Have your cake and eat it too,” right? Well this Saturday, April 23rd at Devils Backbone Brewing Company you can make this a reality…just switch out the cake for some oysters and celebrate Earth Weekend at the Blue Ridge Oyster Festival! Start your Saturday off right by indulging in some good food while helping the environment too!
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation, in partnership with the brewing company and Cerberus Productions, is proud to provide you with all the fresh steamed and raw oysters your heart could ever desire. As if that wasn’t enough, you can also enjoy a hot dog and bratwurst bar, a variety of sweet grits from The Rock Barn and Caromont Farm
Boursin. And to wash it all down with? The festival will be featuring local craft beer from Devils Backbone and Starr Hill and select wines from Cardinal Point Winery to quench that thirst and top off all the delicious grub.
To increase your festival pleasure, there will also be live bands playing:
Travis Elliott & Tucker Rogers Misty Strings Gold Top County Ramblers
So how can all this scrumptious consumption be environmentally conscious too? All oyster shells left over from the Festival will be recycled in conjunction with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s many restoration projects. Every oyster you eat will be farm-raised, which means that they increase the health of the Chesapeake and reduce the demand of other oysters that are endangered or functionally extinct!
So go on, get out of your shell and come out the Blue Ridge Oyster Festival for a great time!
